Yummy

I made the Pumpkin Chocolate Chip bread yesterday....it was really EASY and quite good!  Definitely a possibility for random Christmas gifts!  And it looked JUST LIKE THE PICTURE!!!!  We ate one loaf, and I gave the other to a friend.

I had my doctor's appointment for my foot...the MRI didn't show any strass fractires, which is good....so, the doctor thinks it must be tendonitis.  I'm going to take a couple weeks of prescription strength anti-inflammatories.

I cleaned out Grace's closet tonight and got three bags of clothes to give away.  She's growing so fast.  She can practically wear her sister's clothes!

We have a medium long run tomorrow---maybe 13 or so.  Took it easy today with only 3 miles and walking up all the hills.

I went shopping today at a little mall that I never go to.  It was fun discovering things I don't normally see.  I bought two darling snowflake cookie cutters....go over and see Heidi's on her November 27th blog:   http://journals.aol.com/hwoodred/everyday-cookies/

MRI

I'm feeling like a real athlete today....I went and got an MRI tonight to check on the lingering foot pain I've had since August....funny thing is I've had the least trouble with it the past seven days...ah well.

The whole MRI experience was quite interesting.  It's very loud, so they give you ear plugs.  You have to hold perfectly still....for kind of a long time.  They take quite a few series of images.  Some series last only 2 or 3 minutes.  The longest was about 8 minutes.  Thankfully only the lower half of my body had to go into the machine, so I didn't have to find out just how claustrophobic I really am.

I mostly just closed my eyes and daydreamed about whatever popped into my head.  The loudness of the machine kind of lulled me into dreamy state....sort of like when you fly in a loud airplane.

I ran 6 miles this morning.  Quite foggy out. We've decided to do a semi-long run on Thursday since we had to alter our schedule slightly because of the holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas)......originally we had a the 24 mile run scheduled for Thanksgiving Day----we all decided that really wouldn't work too well. Ha!

I found a recipe I want to try as a possible gift idea:

Amazed

My baby turned 17 today.

He has "running blood" in him......did you know I ran up until about 7 1/2 months when I was pregnant with him?  I remember being careful not to let my pulse get too high.

I only ran three miles today, but a bit faster with a different friend who happened to be out on the trail today.  She played field hockey in college and now referees field hockey games.  I took Friday and Saturday off after our 24 mile long run last Thursday and then plugged away to get in one mile on the treadmill on Sunday night....whew!!!!....boring!!!!  I guess I'm spoiled with so much outdoor running.  It really has been beautiful on the trails lately....so much Fall color above and underfoot.  I love looking for pretty leaves all the time, but especially when I'm running.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Long run

I ran 24 miles today.

It was rainy.

It was wet.

It was windy.

It was chilly.

We stopped at a running store after 12 miles and bought dry clothes and socks.

All things considered, I'm feeling pretty good tonight.

After today, I think I can actually go the marathon distance (26.2).

Tomorrow, I'm taking it easy being a 3rd grade substitute teacher!

Wish me luck. :)

At Mile 13

This is me yesterday at Mile 13......1/10th of a mile to go ( .........and boy did it ever feel like MUCH more than only a tenth of a mile!).

Some friends came to cheer me on....that was wonderful!  Also, I found out today that another friend was praying for me during the whole race.....Wow!  That really meant a lot to me.  When I ran track in college, I always called my mom to tell her exactly what time my events would occur so that she could pray for me......I didn't call her about this race, so I felt so honored that my friend would remember to pray to God for me.

Okay.....so I admit that I'm just a little SORE in my hamstrings today!

(It looks gold here, but it's actually a very pretty silver.)
